Dana Waldon

Dana Waldon

It's been officially 16 years since my photography career began. Although have been shooting since I was a teenager. Thanks to my Dad, who gave me his Nikkormat in the 70's. Still have it. Still gives me a thrill when the shutter "kerplunks"

Living on an island off the coast of Georgia and the woman who ran the little photo lab, LOVED the images she saw that I had taken of my son , Dylan and would place my prints out on the counter for customers to see. Pretty soon, Mom's were calling me to do the same with their children and I did that many times over the next several years, for free...

Never occurring to me that one could actually make a living doing what they loved to do!

Now shooting digitally and hundreds of families later, it is still my favorite photography work ....often feeling like a part of the family, watching these children grow up, thru the lens, and going on to photograph their siblings and extended family. Some of these families I have been working with for 16 years. What an honor.

Since moving to Santa Fe in 2004, my work has been published in THE Magazine, El Palacio, The Santa Fean, Trend, Where Women Create , Rapid River, Cowboys and Indians, Tumbleweeds, American Spectator and Visions of Santa Fe.

I am involved in The Heart Gallery, traveling around New Mexico to photograph foster children, often times enlisting my son Dylan as my assistant. It is by far, one of the most rewarding shoots I do: www.heartgalleryofamerica.org/....

I am also involved in the Galisteo Basin Project www.galisteobasinpreserve.com & www.galisteobasinphotoproject.com Check it out! Proceeds from my print sales go to this incredible effort of preserving the Galisteo Basin.

I am the staff photographer for Where Women Create,a new national quarterly publication.....www.wherewomencreate.com/magazine.html and THE Magazine www.themagazineonline.com

My pigment prints and Portraiture hang in the homes of clients all over the country.

Please contact me for all your photography needs..... Portraiture, Editorial, Landscape, Architectural, Corporate and Magazine work: and yes I am available for travel.

All images on my site with the exception of my Children and Family Portraiture, are offered for sale, archivally printed on watercolor paper, canvas, linen and silk...
